[NEWS] 120206 JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong Meets Over 600 Fans in Turkey

JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong recently met over 600 fans in Turkey through his fan meeting.

Kim’s fan meeting was held on February 5 at Ankara University in Turkey. Over 600 tickets for the fan meeting sold out in only 30 minutes after they started being on sale.

The Korean Cultural Center in Turkey said, “We invited JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong, who has the most fans in Turkey as a Korean singer, to hold his fan meeting so that we can promote cultural exchange between Korea and Turkey and spread Hallyu.”

Even though the weather was cold, many fans came to the fan meeting. They brought red balloons and sang JYJ’s songs along together.

When Kim appeared, he made the fans cheered in unison by saying hello in Turkish.

The fan meeting helped Kim to communicate with his fans. The fans played a video, which they made for Kim and they also held a surprise birthday party for him with a cake.

Over 600 Turkish fans sang the birthday song in Korean to celebrate Kim’s birthday. Kim sang the song “I’ll Protect You,” which was played in the series Protect the Boss.

Kim says, “I visited Turkey for the first time in my life. Thank you so much for welcoming me and I feel very comfortable here. I will do my best to promote Korean cultures as a cultural mission. I want to come back here again with our group members to hold a concert.”

Kim’s agency, C-JeS Entertainment, says, “There are lots of JYJ’s fans in all over the world not just in Korea and Asia. We heard that there are many Turkish people who love Kim and that turned out to be true through the fan meeting.

Kim will attend a meeting, which will be held at Ankara University on February 6, with President Lee Myung Bak and the youth. Then he will attend a state dinner at the Presidential Palace of Turkey.

CGV, the biggest multiplex corporation in Korea, has stated that JYJ’s documentary film was cancelled due to the problems with the contract and had nothing to do with pressure from external forces.

A representative of CGV stated on the 30th, “The only reason JYJ’s documentary film ‘The Day’ was cancelled was because there were problems with the contract.”

‘The Day’ is a documentary-style film that depicts the ordinary everyday lives and dreams of JYJ.

JYJ’s side stated through their official site that, “We write this notice to inform you that the screening of the daily life documentary ‘The Day’ has unfortunately been cancelled,” and “But CGV notified us through a telephone conversation that, “As this is a contract that was not approved by the final arbiter, we will nullify the contract.”"

The screening of JYJ’s (Kim Jaejoong, Park Yoochun, Kim Junsu) documentary has suddenly been cancelled.
The documentary that was filmed at QTV was not aired on broadcast, and so JYJ’s management, CJES, announced that a documentary titled “A Day” would be screened on February 9th.

JYJ had begun holding meetings to discuss details with CGV since December 15th, and their second meeting was on January 16th where they discussed further details. On the 19th, contract details were examined and on the 20th the contract was received. But it was after this day that CGV gave a sudden notice of cancellation by telephone.

JYJ management stated, “At that time, CGV said that the final authorization for the contract had not been given so they needed to initialize that. But on the 25th we received a notice that the contract had been cancelled.”

CGV management stated in this notice, “To the new managers, in regards to the process of briefing that we have conducted for the screening of “The Day”, internal reports and further progress have not been appropriately conducted according to the rules. Internally, to focus on the innovation of “The Day”, it has not been done well according to specific processes, and therefore due to strict regulations we have fallen into this kind of a difficult situation.

JYJ’s management stated, “The business people that own the channel and are abusing their position, CJES will be taking action against CGV for this sudden one sided breaking of a contract through the Fair Trade Commision by filing a complaint to the committee of grievances and complaints.” They added, “For this situation that CGV has created that we don’t understand, we demand for a viable answer.”

On 14 January, at the Dom Art Hall, Lotte Duty Free held the “2012 Lotte Duty Free JYJ in STAR AVENUE” Fan meeting.

Regardless of the cold weather, 2,000 Japanese fans from all over Japan came to Korea to attend this fanmeeting.

“Enter-tour-ment Marketing” is the Korean tourism buisness developed by Lotte Duty Free, combining “Tour” with “Entertainment”, holding hallyu star fan meets and concerts in Korea, a market strategy to attract foreigners to Korea.

Lotte Duty Free’s PR representative Kim Ju Nam said, “Enter-tour-ment Marketing is a strategy in which we heighten the image of Korea in the minds of foreigners by utilizing hallyu stars, and to stimulate the travel industry via shopping, lodging and various tourism industries. 2,000 fans came for this JYJ fanmeeting, and with the upcoming Kim Hyunjoong (Fanmeeting) on 21 January, as well as Jang Geun Suk and Big Bang on 28 January, we expect a total of 7,000 Japanese coming to Korea.”

This fanmeeting which was held on 14 January kicked off with the JYJ Lotte Duty Free promotional video “So I’m Loving You, then followed up with a talk show, mini concert, and a letter of thanks. JYJ performed their hit songs “Get Out,” “In Heaven” and others, their sophisticated choreography drawing passionate cheers from the fans.

Furthermore, there were special events such as a lucky draw in which JYJ gave away their personal items such as jackets and sweaters. This draw was done by selecting seat numbers, and the selected fan would go straight on stage to receive their present as well as take a commemorative photograph. Also, during the talk show, a surprise party was held to celebrate the birthdays of Kim Junsu(1 January) and Kim Jaejoong (26 January).

This 3-hour fanmeeting ended with JYJ’s thank you letters. JYJ read out these letters personally, to thank their fans who came to Korea.

As previously announced, Palm TV‘s ‘Palm News‘ aired their much-anticipated episode with claims of proof on SM Entertainment‘s obstruction of JYJ‘s activities.

On December 22nd, the broadcast stated, “SM Entertainment worked with the Korean Federation of Pop Culture and Art Industry (KFPCAI) and the Korean Entertainment Producer’s Association (KEPA) to keep JYJ from appearing on TV programs.”

Reporter Lee Sang Ho stated, “SM Entertainment is expecting a fine of around $500,000 USD to $800,000 USD within the year, which is the amount that JYJ lost by the obstruction. There is a lot of tension building around SM and the Fair Trade Commission, as the company has been trying to cut back on the costs of the fine as much as possible. The FTC’s chief, Lee Tae Hwi, has expressed that he hopes this case will be an opportunity for the entertainment industry to establish justice and order. There may be additional investigations ordered.”

The reporter then submitted documents to show that SM had worked with the KFPCAI and the KEPA to keep JYJ out of broadcast appearances. However, these documents of the KFPCAI attempting to restrict JYJ’s TV activities were already put in public light last October.

At the time, the KFPCAI and the KEPA had stated, “Due to the fact that the lawsuit surrounding the three members and SM Entertainment has yet to be resolved by the law, and since they [JYJ] have formed their own group for the release of albums and promotions, we have decided that no matter what the final judgment is, this will set an unfair precedent in the industry. As such, we have sent out letters to halt broadcast stations from allowing JYJ on their shows.”

The FTC, on the other hand, denies the claims. Speaking through OSEN, Lee Tae Hwi expressed, “We are in the process of an investigation because there has been a report of such activity, but whether or not we will take this to the committee has yet to be decided. We cannot reveal the inner details of the investigations yet, but we will take it to the committee once we judge that there were indeed illegal activities.”

Jung Hae Im, the figure that led the FTC to investigate the matter, was asked what motivated her to report it, to which she replied, “Despite the fact that JYJ had released a drama OST, digital distributors did not provide their songs and consumers had no choice but to buy the physical CD. The point of digital distribution websites are to allow consumers to purchase songs of their choice for a fee. I, however, was not able to purchase what I wanted to listen to because this method was blocked.”

On 10 December, Kim Jaejoong held his solo fan meeting at the Shanghai International Gymnastics Center. This fan meeting was organized to thank the fans for their show of love for the SBS drama “Protect the Boss,” and all 4,000 seats for this event were snapped up once ticketing opened, showing the high interest level for this event.

Kim Jaejoong arrived in China via Shanghai’s Hongqiao Airport, and made formal preparations for his fan meeting. This day, over 1,000 fans were gathered to welcome him at the airport, and on the day of the fan meeting itself, not only the 4,000 ticket holders, but about 1,000 fans who were unable to purchase tickets were gathered outside the event location to show their support, and his (Jaejoong’s) popularity could be visibly felt.

A group of Jaejoong‘s noona fans that call themselves ‘HEROSE‘ are garnering attention for establishing the ‘Kim Jaejoong Boomerang Scholarship Fund‘, donating money to The Beautiful Foundation in his name.

The scholarship foundation was started with the profits from ‘Herose goods’, the merchandise they sell on their official fan cafe, www.herose.co.kr. The donation was not a one-time gift but rather, with the help of different sponsors, they plan to continuously help deliver hope to the children all over the world who are in difficult situations.

The HEROSE established themselves about two years ago and they not only support Jaejoong’s career in various ways, they also have periodically sponsored children’s organizations. They named their scholarship fund ‘Boomerang’ with the idea that “Love is like a boomerang. We believe that when we plant hope in the hearts of others, we will reap a greater love which will be returned back to Jaejoong.”

The HEROSE noona fans recently held a conference at The Beautiful Foundation for the establishment of ‘Kim JaeJoong Boomerang Scholarship Fund’ where they stated, “We ask for your continued interest and support as we continue our sponsorship“.

Group JYJ’s special edition album has sold out at 70,000 copies.

On 30 November, JYJ’s management company C-JeS revealed that “JYJ’s first Korean album released in September, recorded 250,000 copies in sales despite the broadcast restrictions, a proof of their burning popularity. To express their gratitude towards the fans, JYJ released a special edition album which included a MV DVD and remix versions, and this (special edition album) is currently sold out at 70,000 copies.”

This Special Edition album includes remix versions of the two songs that have been greatly loved by fans across the world during their worldwide concerts, “Get Out” and “In Heaven.” The trendy electronic mix for Get Out was co-produced by DJ Fractal, who had previously worked with Seo Taiji.

As for the ballad “In Heaven” which leaves a deep impression of people with its 3-member harmony, it uses an acoustic guitar sound as its focal point, blending the unique softness of pop ballads together with powerful rock elements.

JYJ said, “As these are songs that we wrote ourselves, the remix versions are even more special.This year, be it those who hope to have a sensitive, delicate year-end, or those who are at a party with their friends, we hope that everyone can enjoy the remixed songs comfortably, and with our new music, spend a warm winter together with your loved ones. “

Music website ‘Monkey 3‘ kicked off the poll on November 17th, and drew 6,100 votes. It was close battle between Jaejoong and Lee Seung Gi, but the idol took first place with 64% (or 3,882 votes).

Fans who cast a ballot in his favor explained, “I would want Jaejoong to hold my hands in his coat pocket” and “He’s a romantic-looking guy, perfect for a romantic date”.

The members of JYJ have lent a hand to Thailand’s flood relief by donating 200 million Korean Won (~ $173,736.00 USD).

JYJ donated to the 2nd round of emergency relief funds being conducted by World Vision. World Vision had set out to raise 200 million Korean Won for the 2nd round when the JYJ members stepped up, and donated a sum equal to their goal amount.

The money will be used to purchase emergency relief aid items such as food, mosquito nets, blankets, drinking water, books, and more.

The members commented, “We heard that the aftermath and damage in Thailand was even greater after the water drained out. With the love we have received from Thailand fans, we decided that we needed to do whatever we could… We hope all the Koreans living abroad and all the fans from Thailand will be able to find stability again soon, and keep their spirits up.”

[NEWS] 111122 JYJ’s Jaejoong Defers his Military Enlistment to August 2012

It’s just been reported that JYJ‘s Jaejoong has delayed his military enlistment, citing ‘overseas stay’ as his reason. At this time, his enlistment date has been pushed back to August 31st, 2012. However, if he wishes to postpone his enlistment then, he will be able to request for a deferment provided that he has a reasonable excuse.

Jaejoong received his military draft notice back in September. Although he’s currently a student enrolled in Kyung Hee Cyber University as a communications major, he’s reached the age of 24. Consequently, he’s of age where he could be included in the draft.

C-Jes Entertainment told Dispatch over the phone, “Jaejoong has requested for a deferment of military enlistment. He has received permission from the Military Manpower Administration. The enlistment was postponed since there are a lot of overseas promotions this year. There is no problem with him promoting until August of next year.”

The agency’s decision to cite “overseas stay” as the reason for deferment rather than school immediately caught the public’s attention. Some netizens even began to whisper that Jaejoong couldn’t use school as his excuse because he was expelled.

C-Jes clarified, “Even during the recent Europe concerts, Jaejoong wrote up 2~3 reports to submit. He is that dedicated.” They continued, “Since JYJ frequently have overseas concerts, we submitted documents citing overseas stay rather than school.”

Although he spends most of his time in Korea rather than overseas (60% compared to 40%), there were no legal problems over his ‘overseas stay’ excuse. A source from the Military Manpower Administration stated, “He doesn’t have to stay overseas during the entire time of his deferment, just because he cited that as his reason… Once the permission is given, it is possible for him to go back and forth between Korea and other countries.”

Although Jaejoong has deferred his enlistment for now, he will have to provide another valid reason if he does not wish to enlist after September of next year. C-Jes stated, “It is a given that a man with a healthy body will be recruited into the military. Since, for the time being, there are overseas promotions lined up, deferment of enlistment was unavoidable. However, Jaejoong is definitely planning to enlist.”

Meanwhile back in February, Yoochun was classified as needing review for a chronic asthma condition during his physical examination for military enlistment. He was categorized once as 7th rank in his first review back in August. Since reviews can be conducted up to 3 times, the results of the remaining 2 reviews will determine whether or not he will enlist. (Receiving 7th rank in physical examinations for military enlistment usually means the individual is not valid for active military duty due to physical illnesses or conditions)

The Military Manpower Administration stated, “Usually when receiving reviews, a set amount of time period is given for medical treatment. 6 months, or sometimes 4 months, is decided as the treatment period. The progress is checked and the decision is made… An individual can receive a maximum of 3 reviews. With the results from the last review, enlistment or exemption will be decided.”

Q. How was the Europe concert tour?

A. The Spain and Germany concerts were really fun. Even though it was a little scary because it was our first time it was an experienced that allowed us to see "hope" and it gave us confidence and a new goal as well. While we were singing, the Caucasians were singing along and it's a different feeling from our Asian fans. It's strange (t/n: in a positive way, like wonderous/miraculous).

Q. If you had a must-have item in your travelling trunk.

A. Um, the kind of slippers you can buy from supermarkets. Those with thick fur that keeps your feet warm.

Q. A way to become happy during a tough day.

A. When you're in pain, if you pinch other areas, the original pain won't hurt as much. If I have to give an example, when I'm feeling down I down even though I drink a lot, the next day I'll sober up. If I have to go on, when my stomach hurts and I eat a lot! If I eat without reason, I'll regret that moment and I'll feel like my stomach is protruding out. So then I'll exercise. A way where you think all kinds of thoughts and forget the important thing at hand?

Q. (To Jaejoong who was playing catchball) It seems like you like catchball.

A. (Earnestly) I think the "catchball of the heart" of one person's connection to another is more important.

Q. If you had aabout a week's holiday.

A. Definitely! Never! I don't have anywhere I want to go if I had a holiday. I just hope that I can spend a long time in my house that I moved into. It's lonely when I'm alone, but that feels good too. I want to rest without thinking about anything.

Q. A (bad/peculiar) habit no one else knows.

A. Out of all my facial features, I have the most confidence in my lips, but because of that I have a tendency to stick my tongue out all the time. Because I want to wet my lips. A. I don't think it's enough yet. I'm still lacking.

A. That moment when tooether with the members, I sing a song that I've created and completed. Before anyone else hears it, that particular time when we hear it only amongst ourselves and feel happy. Looking at it this way, I think that moment is one of the best small moments of happiness.

Q. Wouldn't you start to think a lot when you're drinking alone?

A. Yes. The thoughts come one after another... Even though I don't want to, after observing, it seems like I do enjoy it. When that happens, I write. I have quite a number of notes that covers all kinds of themes. When I look at them later, I use them as lyrics. Almost all the lyrics for my songs were written this way.

Q. Thoughts on charity work.

A. It's a good thing. But it's not like I'm doing it with a "please praise me" attitude.

Q. Are you doing any good work? (t/n: charity)

A. I'm doing it, but it's not something I want to disclose.

Q. If you had any small moments of happiness recently.

A. Yoohwan's acting has improved. Even when I was overseas, I continued to monitor him via Youtube. When I see that, compared to thinking that he looks handsome or admiring him, I feel "happy" instead. Is that boring? But recently, these kind of ordinary things have made me feel happy.

Q. If there's something that you always set your mind to.

A. Um... (silence for a few seconds) I don't really know. (His manager who was watching said "For example when you told Yoohwan 'Let's not have any regrets'.") Yeah, that's something you'll only understand when you first experience regrets.

Q. If you were given free time to do whatever you wanted.

A. I want to go to a temple (Buddhist). If possible, I want to leave my handphone behind and go and stay at a temple with the allowance of time in my hands.

Q. Your favourite music recently.

A. Did Junsu talk about Tablo-hyung? For me, I like Linkin Park. Just listening to them reduces my stress.

Q. Plans hereafter.

A. I'm creating my personal work room at home. It'll probably be completed around December but from then on I want to push forward and work on my compositions. Following that, I also hope to get a good project next year. We're also thinking about our concerts... There are a lot of plans. Well!

Yoochun put on a hair piece.
He looks cool, or perhaps, it's a lonely image. His character and his looks are both calm.
On the other hand, the stylists who saw him blew up with a 'bang'.
"Oh, aren't you Yoohwan?" He looks like he's having a lot of fun when he's with the puppies.
In order to bring up his pet dogs he moved from his previous apartment and he also got a golden retriever from the camping ground.
It was his first time doing a photoshoot with his real brother and acquired a new family member (in the company) it was a calm day of "series of hits".

Q. I'm the type who thinks a lot or I look at things simply (t/n: in an uncomplicated way)?

A. Surprisingly, I'm the kind who thinks a lot. We stayed in Berlin because of our Europe tour and I thought about a lot of things as I took a walk on the streets at night. It's been a really long time since I did that. 4 hours passed as I walked. Although I think a lot, I do my best to wash it out immediately. I believe in the power of positivity.

Q. A way to become happy during tough times?
A. The fans who are waiting for us! When I just think about that, without a shadow of a doubt, I'll be able to do my best. If I can give a slightly more frank answer, it's when I imagine myself playing soccer? I feel happy just thinking about it. Of course, it's even better when I actually play on the sports ground.

Q. Recent playlist that "up"s my mood.
A. I'm really into Jason Mraz's new song "The World As I See It".

Q. Someone special within the Cjes family.
A. (Song) Jihyo-noona is the only actress that I'm close to. I'm proud of that. Haha.

Q. My thoughts regarding charity.
A. Because I'm young I still feel a little awkward when I come into contact with words like "charity". However, naturally I feel a sense of responsibility. Recently, I've been contributing more and the people around me are increasingly giving more as well so I've been thinking of better ways to contribute. Together with the JYJ members, we gave towards "Building Houses of Love" for victims of the earthquake, but I take the most joy in supporting the children in Africa. The children are really cute.

Q. Your life's catchphrase.
A. A bad thing can turn around and change into a blessing! Even when there are tough times we should look for the good things. If we keep looking forward, the results will head towards a better direction. I've learnt this over the past 2 years, and little by little I'm starting to understand life.

Q. The book I read last night.

A. Practice for the musical [Elisabeth] will begin soon so I've been reading books related to it. I'm at my happiest only when I'm standing on stage so I definitely have to give my all.

Striker Junsu is energetic.
He played soccer with the managers and played catchball with Jaejoong enthusiastically.
He also sang in a loud voice as he stood beside Yoochun, who was in the middle of an interview.
While doing the photoshoot, no matter what pose he did, it was way too "colourful" causing a sea of laughter among those present.
When the staff's interest shift towards something else, he is someone who has the ability to garner everyone's attention with a joke.
